Pay-what-you-want easter dinner tomorrow

Free Easter dinner and wine tomorrow for the first 100 people! In a church! The churches of Copenhagen are an increasingly more common view in the cultural activities of the city. Otherwise they are mostly empty. This arrangement is held by the group Hipster Jesus (hehe). And it's not necessarily religiously themed - it is just a nice way to use the otherwise empty churches.

The menu will be consisting of Nordic food. 3 dishes themed around lamb, herbs and wine.
There will also be music by two DJs and words and performances while the dinner goes on.

And the craziest thing is that if you get a seat, you choose how much you want to pay for it yourself! Half the donations will go to the chefs. If you don't get a seat, don't worry. There is still room to stay and wine!!

Get there early!!!

Tomorrow night, from 19:30-21 in Sct. Matthæus kirke, Matthæusgade 31, KBH V.

The focus will be on bridges, and the objective is tho build the most fantastic bridge from a list of criteria given at the workshop. The workshop is mostly for children and their grown-ups, but since we're all engineers, it could still be a lot of fun.

Easter-break in Copenhagen

First day of the spring break (or påskeferie (easter break). It's sunny and lots and lots of stuff will be happening this week.

Easter lunch is one of them. A Danish easter lunch is the same as the Christmas lunch, just held sometime this week instead of in December. Lots of sild (herring), snaps, beer and good company. Other dishes might also be there: leverpostej, bacon, frikadeller etc. Ìf it's more like a dinner, something with lamb and potatoes is the most common. The table will be decorated with birch branches and items in easter colors.

This is about as traditional as it gets.

If you don't want to make it yourself, you can get an easter dinner menu at one of Cofoco's restaurants for 200 kroner (3, 4 or 5 dishes!!!!). Right here: http://cofoco.dk/paaskemiddage/

No update on events this weekend

Sorry for the lack of updates this week - I've been working on Campus litterally 24/7 in the past week, so now the spring break is really well deserved. Also because there are no lectures next week I have more time to tell you about all the stuff that'll happen next week.

Besides the fact that I'm now totally exhausted, my internet connection here at home is so slow that it actually makes researching events for you hard. I'll try and do something about it in the following week.

However, I still have some suggestions if you don't know what to do with all your new sparetime. :)

You can go visit the new, huge aquarium, Den Blå Planet (The Blue Planet) situated at Jakob Fortlingsvej 1, 2770 Kastrup. It has just been opened and it is really impressive. Entrance = 95-140 kroner.

Also, the theme park Bakken has just opened! And it is in Dyrehaven, in walking distance from Campus (even though it's a long walk, it's really beautiful)!

Or grab a cup of coffee at the nice café, KAFFE, at Istedgade 90:

Best weekend wishes,
a very, very tired blogger. :))

Saturday

I couldn't find a super exciting event this saturday - but you could go and visit the nice café, Frenchy, which was awarded the IBYEN-award yesterday for being the best café of the year!

Try their French brunch plate - it's tooooooo delicious!

Everything is homemade and the atmosphere is really, really authentic!

At Hyskenstræde 16, the basement. Open from 9:30-20.

Sunday

St. Patrick's Day in Copenhagen!

Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day! In Copenhagen the day will be celebrated with a parade, music, dance and everything green! Even green candyfloss. It starts at 13:00 at outside the City Hall, there will be a a café (where you can get Guinness and Irish Coffee) and also a costume shop where you can get the right equipment for the day. Traditional music and dance-performances on the stage at 15:30 and at 17:00, the parade will start. All pubs in town will be incredibly crowded, but go there anyway, people are nice and it'll be a lot of fun. Everybody can follow the parade, but alcohol is not permitted in the parade. The route will be Rådhuspladsen - Vester Voldgade - Stormgade - Vindebrogade - Højbro Plads Gammelstrand - Nybrogade - Rådhusstræde - Vestergade - Rådhuspladsen

Unfortunately, I will not be going to any of this - because I've got the flu. Maybe I shouldn't have put away my winter boots that fast...

Events this weekend!

Phew, just had 5 minutes to put this post together! Hoping for a bit less busy week next week. I have a list of stuff I'd like to tell you all about, it's waiting here on my desk (under a huuuuge bunch of other stuff)!

Here we go!

Friday:

Free beer in the Campus bars

DSE is giving away FREE BEER!!!!!!!!!
In Etherrummet from 13-15 and in Diagonalen from 15-17!

New bar opening - more free beer

The newest bar in town will be in Studiestræde - among a lot of other bars! The name of the newest bar is: Studiestraede (simple!). It's supposed to be a minimalistic, relaxed chill-bar. No guest lists. No themes. No concepts. The team behind (Gromit, Daniel Nunez and Joh Hammersholt are experienced experts in the business and in partying, so it all sounds very promising already! The furniture is designed by the team themselves! And the bar will also double as a store with quality spirits and bar-equipment for the ambitious to try out the cocktail making at home!

There will of course be a huge opening party tomorrow from 16. However, there is "only" room for about a hundred people inside, if they stand closely together, so let's hope for wonderful weather and a blast of a street party outside the bar in the afternoon! Open bar for the first couple of hours and DJ's!

At Studiestræde 5. Price-levels: Bottled beer, 35 kroner, wine, 45 kroner and relatively cheap cocktails from 75 kr.

Free concert at RUST

If you want to go and experience Mellow Yellow and others for free at RUST, write them a message on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mellowyellowdk with how many you want to show up! There is still space on the guest list. :)

International R-Kelly day at RHK

This is one of the weirdest and possibly funniest events I've seen for some time! It appears that tomorrow is the International R-Kelly day. People all over the world will be throwing parties in his honor - and the Copenhagen party will be hosted at Rigshospitalets Kollegium!

They promise a red carpet with photographer, live bands and only R. Kelly! ALL... NIGHT... LONG!!!
Friday the 8th of March Rigshospitalets Kollegium (RHK) will turn into a temple of love where R. Kelly is the god that we all worship.

Also, there will be free entrance, R. Kelly masks, cheap bar, beautiful surroundings, hot girls, classy guys, and a lot of fun!

It starts at 21-the early morning, at Jagtvej 120. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/456840564361180/permalink/493125884065981/

Saturday:

New ice cream concept in Copenhagen

As known from the States, the "pour your own low calorie ice cream" concept is finally here in Copenhagen! My Fro'Yo Cup will be opening this saturday and there will be FREE ICE CREAM FROM 13:00-17:00!!!

At Fiolstræde 9.

Sunday:

Spring market at Ravnsborggade

The really nice Ravnsborggade will host their annual spring market this sunday! The antique-shops, designers, cafés and galleries will be moving to the sidewalk! There will definitely be some unique stuff there - and a lot of people and nice atmosphere!

From 10-16 at Ravnsborggade, Sankt Hans Gade, Ryesgade and Ravnsborg Tværgade!

Best weekend wishes,
Nanna

Just a little reminder that DSE will be giving away free sandwiches in S-huset at lunch tomorrow. :)

This is a really busy week for me, so there might not be more posts than the usual event-one. :)
